Landon was one of the babies that helped set a record at our birth center. Our first double birth at The Ocala Birth Center!

Savannah’s water broke during her prenatal visit. There was already one mama in labor, so the we prepared the second birth room. At some point, Landon flipped from ROA to OP, Savannah tried switching positions to encourage him to turn. A little later, Savannah and Nadine (the mother from the other birth room) decided to take a walk together to help labor along. I followed them as birth assistant and photographer. The birth center is next door to a Dunkin Donuts and a skating rink, we got more than a few odd looks with our prego parade walking around! The fresh air was nice and we all laughed and talked as we walked, occasionally stopping when contractions demanded their attention.Nadine gave birth first, her daughter was born at 4:52pm. Very shortly after that, Savannah said that she had the urge to push. Amy guided her into the birth pool. She pushed with all she had while she guided Landon’s head down. Latosha Lewis and William Holly were and incredible support team. Savannah eventually moved to the bed, and she was struggling desperately and wanted to give up. Landon was born face-up, called OP positioning, sometimes called “Sunny Side Up”.He was born at 5:52pm. Exactly one hour apart from the baby next door (Journey Nala Rose). “I can’t imagine how chaotic it was for Amy and her staff, but they never faltered. I deeply commend them all for their dedication to the mommies and babies. It was by far the most painful and difficult experience compared to Scarlet’s birth. I wanted to give up so badly at times, but everyone encouraged me to keep going. They never gave up on me, even though I wanted to give up on myself. All in all, it was such a beautiful and healing experience for me.”
- Congrats Savannah, Billy, and big sis Scarlett on the birth of Landon James.
- He arrived sunny side up on 12/11/13 at 5:52pm, 8lbs 2oz!
